Ladies and Gentlemen, START YOUR ENGINES!

Typically, Memorial Day weekend means vacations and cook outs – traditionally, it is the start of the summer vacation season. In Indianapolis, it means RACE DAY! The 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 is this weekend, and the odds-on favorite to win is Alexander Rossi (8:1); Danica Patrick (20:1) is racing her career final race (bet $100 on her and you’ll have a great holiday weekend if she wins!). The last thing we expect is some guy named Alberto charging into New Orleans and causing trouble. Well, that is, if he’s the first storm of the season, and its still not even Memorial Day, let alone June 1!

The details: Alberto is currently a subtropical storm in the NW Caribbean. Currently, Alberto is at 19.7N 86.8W, about 55 mi S of Cozumel and moving NNE at 6mph, with max sustained winds of 40 mph. a Topical Storm watch has been issued in Mexico and Cuba. Right now, the storm should maintain but not intensify over the next 48 hours, but should begin intensifying in about 72 hours. We expect her to be a hurricane by Memorial Day and make landfall, ultimately, somewhere between Panama City and New Orleans. As always, we will keep you posted!
