Jose continues to produce TS conditions across southern New England today, as he just hangs out in the Atlantic. His current location is 39.5N 67.9W, 160 miles SE of Nantucket, and he’s stationary at present. The current forecast literally says he will “meander” off the coast of New England for the next few days, though he will weaken and become post-tropical tonight or tomorrow.
Maria, on the other hand, is heading towards the Turks and Caicos, as she gradually strengthens. She’s currently at 20.4N 69.4W, 85 miles ENE Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. She’s moving NW at 9 MPH with max sustained winds of 120 MPH. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Dominican Republic from Cabo Engano to Puerto Plata, Turks and Caicos Islands, and the Southeastern Bahamas. Expect some strengthening today and tomorrow. She will just miss the Turks and Caicos and the SE Bahamas tonight and tomorrow morning. Expect a more NW turn sometime early Saturday.
